The folks of mobileaks.nl have published a fresh render of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the 2014 flagship from the South Korean company. With the Galaxy S4 already launched on major markets and the Galaxy Note 3 being part of the rumors already, we can start dreaming about the Galaxy S5, I guess.
The source claims that Samsung has been exploring various innovative technologies, like flexible and bendable AMOLED screens. Those are expected to go into production close to the year end, so expect foldable smartphones to come soon enough. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of them, with a screen that can be folded in and out, without requiring a hinge or a cut through the middle.
The render here involves a 7.5 mm thick handset, that once folded around amount to double that thickness, but also half the length. The Galaxy S5 abandons the curves of the past two generations and goes back to the Galaxy S II styling, something that many people have been asking for. Are we truly ready for a phone we can bend in two?
The demands will be high for the Samsung Galaxy S5, especially since the Galaxy S III marked the jump from 480 x 800 to HD and the S4 to 1920 x 1080. It’s possible that next year we’ll get even more pixels on the 5 inch display, which I think will be the diagonal yet again.
Samsung Galaxy S5, in this version of render has been created by Suman Chatterjee, who did a fine job with this concept. The only thing I don’t like is how cheap the back side feels. It feels like some sort of bigger Galaxy Ace, while the front actually makes sense. I’ve seen at least half a dozen of Galaxy S4 concepts with edge to edge screens and now here’s yet another one.
The camera and the entire back side look totally low end, if you ask me and if you ask me what’s a “high end look”, just have a glance at the Huawei Edge and the Lenovo K900 handsets (just Google them) and check out those beautiful metallic backs with embedded cameras. Just gorgeous! Imagine that back and this front… total madness!
I have to say that the following Samsung Galaxy S5 concept is more down to earth than one would think, especially if you’ve heard the latest rumors floating around the web. Sent to us by 91mobiles, the design is wider and doesn’t exaggerate with edge to edge screens.
The handset’s profile makes me think of the HTC One for some reason, while the clean back side makes me think of an Asian brand like Pantech or NEC. Anyway, know that the Samsung Galaxy S5 pictured here runs Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, relies on a 3200 mAh battery and it’s both water and dustproof. Inside it’s got a 2 GHz Octa core processor, 4 GB of RAM and upfront we find a 5.2 inch screen.
The design features a metallic body, a 16 megapixel back camera and a 5 MP front shooter, that can trigger even more gestures and control systems. One of them is the Smart Eye Tracking, that was actually expected on the Galaxy S4. Finally, the Galaxy S5 will bring up to 128 GB in storage. Fancy this model?
